They say artwork is meant to elicit emotions. I’ve spent enough time in art galleries wondering I was even looking at and feeling nothing but confusion.
Once I started browsing for artwork to hang in my daughter’s room, I came across this print from an Etsy shop and my eyes immediately welled with tears- something that doesn’t happen often despite the fact that I was ~20 weeks pregnant at the time.
The simple sketch of a mother and daughter was exactly the vibe I was going for but didn’t know it until I saw it.
The pencil sketch theme would continue as I found the other 3 prints of animal mothers and their babies.
The final addition to her bedroom artwork was gifted to us by one of my besties who had it commissioned- Mack and Thor, my two first babies as an adult now hang in her room above her rocking chair. When I pulled this watercolor painting out of the bag, I sobbed- the kind that comes fast and without warning. It’s one of the most beautiful and thoughtful gifts I’ve ever received and I was thrilled to hang such a meaningful piece in my daughter’s room.
My favorite way to snag high quality artwork
Head to Etsy and start browsing shops. Make sure to scroll through several categories and browse “shop similar artists.”
Once you find what you like, place an order- many shops offer immediate PDF delivery of their work.
From there, you can upload the artwork into Walgreens Photo and order whatever size you want, pending the image doesn’t get warped if it’s a bigger print.
Luckily for me, this was around the holidays so I was able to snag a few print discount from Walgreens Photo and got some great deals on frames from Michael’s using coupons and such.
Well-framed, meaningful artwork can really change the vibe of the room, whether you consider yourself an ‘art girlie’ or not.
