First- it’s HEALTH at every size. Not “healthy” at every size. The problem is when stuff becomes main stream it gets butchered and ruined.
HAES, if we’re keeping it simple, just means that everyone can implement and incorporate healthful behaviors into their life regardless of their size. It also reiterates that intentional weight loss pursuits are not the pinnacle of health- and that optimal health occurs at varying sizes, shapes, and weights for all humans.
HAES means that people of all sizes and shapes are welcome to pursue health without a contingency based on weight or appearance.
Unless you’ve read Linda Bacon’s work, I don’t think you get to have an opinion ? Among this list also includes but is not limited to: Intuitive Eating by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch, The Fuck It Diet by Caroline Dooner, and Just Eat It by Laura Thomas- just to get started.
I keep seeing lots of debate circling around the body positive movement, intuitive eating, and HAES. Listen- unless you’re doing the work, reading the books, reading the research, and asking the questions- you don’t get to have an opinion. You don’t get to say “HAES is dangerous” if you haven’t even read the book. You don’t get to say “intuitive eating is stupid” if you haven’t read the book- AT A MINIMUM.
Please make sure whoever you’re listening to on the internet knows what they’re talking about before you take their ignorant opinion as law.
