Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway

Afraid of looking like a fool? This one’s for you.

I took a movement/pain course this past weekend and the entire week leading up to it I was like “what if I’m the dumbest person there?” I made up the story in my head that I didn’t deserve to be there, that I was in way over my head, and that everyone would easily notice that I’m a fraud (what does this even mean?) and maybe I shouldn’t go.

But you know what? Fuck that. Want to know who NO ONE is going to remember? The woman who stayed home.

So hear me when I say this:

You deserve to be anywhere you have the courage to show up at. The gym, your new job, a course, a new city.

I’ve always said if I’m the smartest person in the room, I’m in the wrong room. I needed to give myself permission to not know it all. And guess what? I’d be none the wiser today had I not gone- I’m better because of it because I *didn’t* (and still don’t) know it all. What’s the fun in knowing it all anyway?

So go do new things. Scary things. Go be a beginner. Go be the dumbest person in the room and ask the questions so you can understand. Be seen. Be willing to be heard. Go grow.

Your life will only expand each time you step out of your comfort zone. Feel the fear and do it anyway.

It’s a new month. Do something new this month. Something that you’re scared you’ll make a damn fool of yourself over. Ask the damn questions in the work meeting, do your first burpee at the gym and let everyone watch.

Step out of your comfort zone just once this month. And report back! I want to hear about how you can expand this month- and it ain’t gonna happen if you’re chilling in your comfort zone. ??
